Palesa Selepe, born and raised in Standerton, Mpumalanga is an emerging poet and Finance student at the University of Johannesburg. Over the past two years at the Arts Academy, she has explored the power of words, honing her craft and developing her style. During this time, she also developed a passion for collaborative work; through the Queer Society, as well as her poetry collective Joy Monuments, where she writes alongside other students from the Academy. Inspired by a lifelong love for writing, connection and community, Palesa performs to share her work and continues to grow as both an artist and an individual.
