A distinguished Jamaican poet, author, and professor, Kwame is an acclaimed writer of poetry, fiction, and criticism and is the current Poet Laureate of Jamaica (2024-2027). He is the chancellor of the Academy of American Poets and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature. He is a professor at Brown University, teaches in the Pacific MFA Program, is the series editor of the African Poetry Book Series, and directs the African Poetry Book Fund. His many honours include the Windham-Campbell Prize for Poetry and being named a finalist for the Neustadt International Prize. In 2022, Jamaica awarded him the Order of Distinction, Commander class.
