Malika’s words and performances have featured on pages and stages across South Africa and globally for more than 25 years. She has published two plays, A Coloured Place and Sister Breyani, and five poetry collections: Born in Africa but, Womb to World: A Labour of Love, Truth is both Spirit and Flesh, Invisible Earthquake: A woman’s journey through stillbirth, and CLOSE. She has co-founded and curated multimedia poetry events for various festivals and platforms, including the Badilisha Poetry X-Change, the RISE Africa Urban Action Festival, the Open Book Festival and the Franschhoek Literary Festival. Her latest book, Griefseed, centring on the regenerative nature of grief, was published by Karavan Press.
