Hawa Nanjobe Kimbugwe is a Ugandan performance poet, whose journey to The Lantern Meet of Poets at the Uganda National Cultural Centre began at Nabisunsa Girls’ School. She co-published Phases with her sister in 2016 and released a poetry album of the same name in 2022. She has performed nationally and internationally and has adjudicated several poetry competitions. In 2022, she was the first young Muslim female poet to launch a poetry production entitled Tonight is Hawa’s Ours at the Uganda National Cultural Centre. She is an advocate for peace, women’s empowerment, social and gender justice, and serves as a nutritionist and youth community builder.
