Mandiaye Camara, also known as CamouMC L’Africain, is a Senegalese cultural entrepreneur, poet, slam poet and slam master, born on 30 June 1972 in Thiès, Senegal. He serves as Vice President of the Senegalese Slam Poetry League, President of the Thiès Regional Slam Poetry League and President of the Wa-Slam Thiès Collective. He is also the initiator and Director of Le Poète des Écoles Thiessoises (Le POETH), Senegal’s first inter-school slam poetry competition. Mandiaye was runner-up in the Thiès Regional Slam Poetry Competition in 2017 and 2018. He is the CEO and Director of FaDiey Éditions, which has published nine books since 2021. He is the author of two poetry collections, Jeu S’lâme and Flo-raison d’une muse errante, the latter receiving the 2021 Immaculée Éditions International Poetry Prize. He has also co-authored four anthologies, including 19th Spring of Poets Cairns20, The Cause, Of Cries and Ink and Elegy of the Sowers of Africa.
