Matodzi Gift Ramashia, known as Makhafula Vilakazi, is a poet and spoken-word artist from Chiawelo, Soweto. Writing across Tsotsitaal, isiZulu, Sesotho and English, his work offers an uncompromising exploration of township life, Black identity, history, language and belonging. His poetry has appeared in several anthologies, including Sections of Six (Botsotso Publishers). He released I Am Not Going Back to the Township in 2013 and Concerning Blacks in 2021, and has performed sold-out productions at Joburg Theatre, Soweto Theatre and the State Theatre. In 2023, he published his debut poetry collection, Izinkondlo ZaseGoli.
