I’m David Pereira, a 100% Alajuela native. I’ve been participating as a spoken word and slam poetry artist in Costa Rica for about three years, using words to tell stories, question, and connect. In 2025, I became the national slam champion, a title I currently hold with pride. Besides poetry, I work in the creative world as a photographer and audiovisual producer, where I explore other ways of narrating and building through images. For me, both poetry and visual art are different ways of telling what we experience as individuals and as a society. That’s why, as I always say, I ended up becoming a poet by chance, driven by the need to play with words to express myself and connect.
