David Pereira is a spoken word and slam poetry artist from Alajuela, Costa Rica, where he was born and raised. For the past three years, he has been using poetry as a way to tell stories, ask questions and create connections. In 2025, David became Costa Rica’s National Slam Champion, a title he currently holds with pride. His work reflects his belief in the power of words to explore both individual experiences and wider social realities. Beyond poetry, David works in the creative field as a photographer and audiovisual producer, exploring visual storytelling and new ways of communicating through images. For him, poetry and visual art are different forms of the same impulse: to tell stories about what people experience, both individually and collectively. As he often says, he became a poet by chance, driven by a simple need to play with words, express himself and connect with others.
