Born in Durban, Saif is a multimedia artist, poet, and filmmaker. During their formative years, they attended poetry sessions at BAT Centre and later moved to Cape Town to pursue a BA at UCT. Instead of focusing on their degree alone, they joined students in decolonial protests during the Rhodes Must Fall movement. In 2017, Saif featured as a headline performer at Poetry Africa and in 2018, they embarked on an international tour, performing at institutions such as Stanford University and UVS in New York. Earlier this year, they wrote and directed a short film Home is a Place You Burn Down, which won OTV’s Bravest Film Award.
