Adjei is a lecturer, translator, editor and a PhD student at the University of Waikato, New Zealand. He is the co-founder of Africa Haiku Network, Poetry Foundation Ghana, and The Mamba, Africa’s first international haiku journal. Adjei is a worldwide anthologised poet and winner of several international awards. He specialises in Afriku: a nativized version of the Japanese haiku poetry which tells the African story. His debut haiku collection, AFRIKU (Red Moon Press, 2016) has been commended by Prof. Wole Soyinka. Recent haiku poetry collections include Scaring Crow (Buttonhook Press, 2022) and Tales of the Kite (Buttonhook, 2023).
