Oumoukelthoum Gueye, known by her stage name Oumeyma, is an emerging figure in Mauritania’s slam poetry scene. Alongside her artistic practice, she works as an administrative assistant and is deeply committed to social development and community engagement. A former community mobiliser with AGD/OIM, Oumeyma has consistently worked to support the wellbeing and development of her community. In 2023, she contributed to a study on migrant child labour in Mauritania. In 2024 and 2025, she facilitated training workshops supporting the socio-professional reintegration of young women and men who had dropped out of school in her community. Through both her artistic and community work, Oumeyma uses her voice to engage with social realities and create spaces for expression, dialogue and change.
