MayaSpoken is a Ugandan-Jamaican poet based on the unceded, unsurrendered Territory of the Anishinaabe Algonquin Nation. She is raising two children and holds multiple poetry slam titles, including two-time canadian individual poetry slam champion (2023,2025). She is ranked 2nd in the Abya Yala Poetry Slam which connects 18 poets across the America’s. Her poetry is published in Big Whoopie Deal, Bywords, and international anthologies “De las Periferias a las Fronteras” and “Poesía Y Disidencias” (2024) alongside very powerful thinkers and writers.
