A Ugandan poet and playwright based in London and the founder of the Obsidian Foundation, Dr Makoha, has been the recipient of the Ivan Juritz Prize and the Poetry London Prize. His debut collection, Kingdom of Gravity, was shortlisted for the Felix Dennis Prize for Best First Collection and was one of the Guardian’s best books of the year. He has been published in several journals, including Poetry, the Cambridge Review, the New York Times, Poetry Review, Poetry London, Poetry Wales, and the Boston Review. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature, and his new collection, The New Carthaginians, was published by Penguin.
