Known as Huda the Goddess, the internationally acclaimed spoken word poet, educator, and activist, and a proud Black Sudanese Muslim woman, uses powerful, often improvised poetry to challenge narratives and champion refugee advocacy. This commitment earned her the 2025 Australia for UNHCR–SBS Les Murray Award for Refugee Recognition. She claimed the Queensland Poetry Slam title twice and won the Australian Poetry Slam in 2021. Her impact extends globally through performances, including her TEDx Talk, Why Poetry Is Important in a World Full of Chaos. She is the founder and director of She Is, a national exhibition empowering women, and has published an anthology titled Introducing Me.
