Makhosazana Xaba is an anthologist, poet, short story writer, and translator. She has published four collections of poetry, the most recent being The Art of Waiting for Tales: Found Poetry from Grace—a novel. Her 2019 edited anthology, Our Words, Our Worlds: Writing on Black South African Women Poets, 2000–2018, was a co-winner of the 2021 HSS Awards. Xaba’s Izimpabanga Zomhlaba is her translation of Frantz Fanon’s The Wretched of the Earth into isiZulu. She is a patron of the Johannesburg Review of Books, where she hosts long-form interviews with contemporary South African poets
