Marí Peté was an invited poet at Poetry Africa in 2010. She has published six bilingual poetry books. She trans-writes between English and Afrikaans — these poems are fraternal rather than identical twins. The latest of these have been awarded creative output units by the Department of Higher Education and Training — Winter: Water and Fire. Maloti-Drakensberg Verse, and Light Travels | Lig Reis. These books are also available in voice recorded format. In Marí’s seventh collection, OlduvAI to AI. e-Poetry (2022), a book skin contains the concept, while the actual poems are a YouTube playlist of short movies performed by the poet and her tech tools. Marí holds a poetic inquiry PhD in Visual and Performing Arts (2022), which yielded a collection of 52 poems about lecturers’ encounters with technology. She has worked as a technology ethnographer at the Durban University of Technology for some three decades. Marí’s scholarly work is underscored by her belief that imagination is equal to reason. maripetepoetry.com
