Quaz Roodt

Quaz Roodt is a poet and the Arts Academy Coordinator for The University of Johannesburg’s Arts and Culture department. He is the editor of poetrypotion.com and the host of the Poetry Potion podcast.  He is also the co-host of The Quiet Conversation with Qhakaza Mohare on Jazzuary FM.  Quaz was the 2020 Mellon writer-in-residence at Wits University and in 2016 he was noted as one of South Africa’s top 100 Inspiring and Aspiring Young People by Independent media. To date he has authored one chapbook and one collection of poetry.

His work appears in numerous local and international anthologies and journals. In 2018 he compiled and edited an anthology of poetry titled ‘Footprints of the heart’ as part University of Johannesburg’s Arts and Culture poetry programme. He has performed his poetry at various international festivals in countries such as Swaziland, Zimbabwe, Mauritius, Botswana  and Brazil. Quaz has to date released five audio projects and also appears in numerous documentaries and short films.
