Lethu Nkwanyana is a spoken word artist, a writer, a thespian, a wordsmith and the epitome of a true performer, with exceptional stage presence. His journey of poetry commenced in 2012 at his local church, and he has a flamboyant yet subtle way of delivering his craft.
Fascinated by literature, philosophy, God and performance arts, Lethu has been featured on an International showcase “Poets in Autumn” (2019) – one of the biggest poetry tours in the world. He has also won the South African Poetry Award for best poet, and was a participant in an American Digital Slam in 2020 – Poetry University, which is also an international platform.
Additional achievements include performing at the Africa Arts Festival, having his work showcased in a musical in Swaziland, performing at the ICC Arena Old Mutual Awards, running poetry workshops in KwaDukuza, co-writing a theatre piece (Ushanelo) and representing KZN at the Drama for Life Poetry Competition in 2017. Lethu is also the founder of “Let The Poet Speak” and “Let The Poet Slam” which is now going to become a provincial Slam Tour.
As a poetry pioneer, Lethu aims to take poetry to a higher level, whilst grooming and motivating other artists.
