Poetry Picnic In The Courtyard (Howard College Theatre)

This year’s festival programme concludes with an open-ended celebration of poetry at the Howard College Theatre Courtyard.

The event will be kicked off by the poets who were selected from Poetic Encounters; a dynamic exchange in skills-sharing workshops, dialogues and performances that was hosted by the Centre for Creative Arts, in collaboration with Arts Town Riebeek Valley. Tshegofatjo Makhafola, winner of our year-long monthly competition, Louder Than A Vote, will also shift out of the digital space and grace us with a live performance. Our featured poets who, throughout the week, have been engaging in live performances, community centre and school visits, online book launches and webinars, will bring their whirlwind time in Johannesburg and Durban to a close with one last poetic offering to the public. We’re keeping a few spots open for upcoming poets too – keep an eye out for more details on our social media pages!

Pack a picnic basket and invite your friends, lovers and family to tag along for an afternoon of free expression.
