In many indigenous communities, the poet is said to have divine authority to speak truth to power. Ronelda Kamfer, Nazlee Arbee, Athingahangwi Ramabulana, and Olive Olusegun stretch themselves into a multilingual international conversation, through poetry, around the pockets of light that can be found in between and despite forced political silences. Drawing from the many writers who have written before and alongside them, these poets examine some of the ways poetry has shifted and continues to shift the pulse of our lives.
