Grieve, that is how you survive

“Grieve, that is how you survive” is a lyrical and multidisciplinary performance fusing poetry, physical theatre, and music to explore the intimate and often unspoken experience of grief. The play follows the intersecting journeys of two women as they confront, carry, and come to understand their grief through different seasons of life. Set against a world that encourages emotional restraint, the performance dares to ask what it means to surrender to loss, not as weakness, but as an act of survival. Through memory, embodiment, and ritual, the work traces loss from childhood to adulthood, illuminating how remembering, honouring, and allowing can create space for transformation. Tender, raw, and deeply human, it invites audiences to witness grief not as an end, but as a return to love, to self, and to meaning. Written, directed and performed by Grace Storm and Thandiwe Nqanda.
