Tory Saint


TORY SAINT (born Kwanele Nyembe) is a Ladysmith born and Durban based poet, writer, actor and dancer. He views these various artforms as a kaleidoscope by which he sees the different colours of his being. He uses poetry to navigate his internal, emotional and mental well-being in relation to the world he finds himself in. His poetry is constantly evolving just as he is. He has shared his works on various stages and spaces in South Africa, including Wits poetry corner, Current State of Poetry and with WordnSound. In 2018 he was the runner up for the Poetry Africa slam jam, and in 2019 he became Poetry Africa’s slam champion. He is also currently the chairperson of Nowadays Poetry.
