FÉLING CAPELA was born on October 29, 1981 in Mozambique. His childhood is linked to the arts and letters. He is a marginal, rebellious poet, an incessant fighter for the freedoms of African peoples. He studied Mozambican literature, investigative journalism and photojournalism. He is one of the most influential producers of cultural events in Mozambique, responsible for the largest and oldest (16 years of Poetry nights) poetry evening; he is Curator of the largest International Festival of Poetry and Performing Arts in Mozambique, POETAS D ́ALMA. His artistic work took him to travel around 20 countries on all continents. He represented his country in multiple festivals including the 2014 Poetry Africa.
He worked for 10 years for the newspaper, Notícias, the most influential in Mozambique; cultural projects in the British Consol; FDC – Community Development Fund (organization led by respect Graça Machel; has collaborated and published in the New York Times; Global CAD; National Geographic; He has interviews of his life published on CNN International, BBC, DW amongst others. In 2019 he was the Festival’s Backstage Manager MTN Bushfire. For about 3 years, Féling has worked as Cultural Manager and curator of the CCMA – Mozambican-German Cultural Center (Goethe- Institut in Maputo).His poems are about love of neighbour, unity, the fight against racism, xenophobia and against corrupt political leaders in the city of savage capitalism
