Guillem Gavaldà

Guillem Gavaldà

He grew up with the rapturous speed of a millennial in his brain on the banks of the chemical Riu Sec: sweet and fast. And almost without realising, he grew up with the growing fear of sweeping away everything that surrounds and embraces him with his unique state of terror. Such verve and such shadow sheltered him in his adolescence in Barcelona. He took refuge there. And, possibly, that was when he found the words of Blai Bonet, Víctor Català and Mercè Rodoreda. He did Classical Studies at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. And, then, he became too impatient with the topsy-turvy nature of words to the point of having to define everything that weighed him down. The year was 2016 when he published Fam bruta (LaBreuEdicions; Cafè Central; AdiAEdicions), his first book of poems. It would later win him the Francesc Garriga Award. And, in 2017, he won the Miquel Bauçà de Felanitx Award for his second work of poetry, Brànquies (AdiAEdicions). His poetry has been translated into Spanish, English, Turkish and Greek. Since then, his verses serve as packaging for everything that disturbs him and defines him, always, based on the active turbulence of his body.
